Terms & Conditions

PDFedit — Offline PDF Editor, Scanner & Reader

Effective Date: September 11, 2026  |  Last Updated: September 11, 2026

1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the PDFedit mobile application (the "App"), published by RevaRamdoot Studios ("we," "our," or "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

The short version: PDFedit is a local, offline PDF toolkit — it has no account, currently charges nothing, and doesn't send your documents anywhere. Everything you view, edit, annotate, or scan with it is your document and your responsibility. Because the App can edit existing text so the edit blends into the original document, Section 6 sets clear limits on what that capability may and may not be used for.

These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what the App does and does not collect.

2. What PDFedit Is

PDFedit is an offline PDF toolkit for Android. It lets you open and read PDFs; edit existing text in place; annotate with highlights, underlines, strikethroughs, freehand ink, text boxes, and stamps; draw and place a signature; fill in and flatten form fields; reorder, rotate, delete, insert, and extract pages; merge or split PDFs; compress a PDF's file size; lock or unlock a PDF with a password; scan paper documents to PDF; convert between images and PDF or turn plain text into a PDF; run on-device text recognition (OCR) to make scanned PDFs searchable; read a PDF aloud; and translate a selection.

The App is a document-editing and file-management tool. It is not a notarisation, certification, or legal-attestation service, and it does not verify the authenticity, legality, ownership, or provenance of any document you open, edit, sign, or scan with it.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App. By using it, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

4. No Account, and Your Documents Live on Your Device

The App requires no registration and creates no account with us. Everything you open, create, or edit is stored locally on your device. We operate no server that receives your PDFs, and we therefore have no copy of your documents and no ability to recover them for you.

You are responsible for backing up your own files. If your device is lost, damaged, reset, or if the App is uninstalled, locally stored documents may be permanently lost. The App does not offer cloud backup or sync; keeping copies of documents that matter to you is entirely your responsibility.

5. Your Content and Your Responsibility

You retain all rights to the documents, edits, annotations, and signatures you create in the App. We claim no ownership of any of it.

Because PDFs are often legal, financial, official, or otherwise sensitive documents, the following are entirely your responsibility:

  • Accuracy. Any text you add, edit, or correct, and any form field you fill in, is yours to verify. The App applies the edit you request; it cannot know whether the resulting content is correct or complete.
  • The right to edit. Whether you are legally entitled to alter, sign, annotate, or unlock a particular document — a contract, an official record, an academic or professional document, or a document belonging to someone else — is governed by law and by your relationship to that document, not by the App. Having the technical ability to edit a file is not the same as having the right to.
  • Distribution. Sharing, printing, or emailing a document is an action you take. Once a document leaves the App, its distribution is outside our control.

Nothing in the App constitutes legal, notarial, or professional advice. If you need advice on whether or how you may lawfully alter a given document, consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.

6. Acceptable Use

PDFedit's core text-editing feature is built to make a legitimate correction blend into a document's existing font and layout. That capability exists to let you fix your own documents cleanly — not to help anyone disguise an unauthorised change. You agree not to use the App to:

  • Alter, forge, or falsify any document you do not have the legal right or authority to change — including contracts, identification documents, academic or professional credentials, financial statements, medical records, government forms, or another person's documents.
  • Create, edit, or sign a document with intent to deceive or defraud a third party, misrepresent facts, or evade a legal or regulatory obligation.
  • Apply, remove, or forge a signature that is not your own or that you are not authorised to use.
  • Circumvent password protection or ownership restrictions on a document you do not own and are not authorised to access.
  • Impersonate another person or entity, or issue an edited or scanned document as if it came from someone it did not.
  • Violate any applicable law or a third party's rights.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the App beyond what its published source code (Section 9) already permits, except where such restriction is prohibited by law.
  • Redistribute, resell, or sublicense the App as distributed via Google Play as if it were your own.

Responsibility for how the App's editing, signing, and scanning features are used rests with the person using them. We may cease providing the App, or a future version of it, to anyone who uses it in these ways.

7. Permissions and Optional Network Features

The App requests device permissions and offers optional network features strictly as described in our Privacy Policy — including all-files access for the device-wide file index, notifications for background job progress, and an off-by-default Settings toggle for downloading a substitute font. None of these grants us access to your documents.

8. Free to Use; No Current Charges

PDFedit is currently free to download and use, with no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or advertising. We may introduce optional paid features in a future version. If we do, this section and the Privacy Policy will be updated first to describe exactly what changed, and nothing you have already created will be locked, deleted, or made inaccessible as a result.

9. Open Source

The App's source code is published at github.com/manjulkadyan/PDFedit, under the licence terms stated in that repository. Nothing in that licence transfers ownership of, or grants rights beyond what it states in, the RevaRamdoot Studios name, the PDFedit name, or the app icon, which remain our property.

10. Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following third-party services, each governed by its own terms:

  • Google Play — distribution. Subject to the Google Play Terms of Service.
  • Play Services Document Scanner and ML Kit — on-device scanning, text recognition, and translation. Subject to Google's terms.
  • Google Fonts API — optional font download, if you enable it. Subject to Google's terms.

We are not responsible for the availability, performance, or policies of these services. Features that depend on them may stop working if a provider changes or discontinues its service.

11. Availability, and No Warranty

The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of defects; that an edit, conversion, scan, or OCR result will be perfectly accurate or visually indistinguishable from an unedited original in every case; that the App will be compatible with every device or Android version; or that it will remain available indefinitely. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any of its features at any time.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. Where that is the case, the exclusions above apply to the fullest extent permitted by law, and nothing in these Terms limits any statutory right you have as a consumer.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, RevaRamdoot Studios shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising out of or relating to your use of the App.

This includes, without limitation, loss or corruption of locally stored documents; errors in any edit, conversion, scan, or OCR result produced with the App; disputes arising from a document you created, edited, or shared; and any consequence — legal, financial, or otherwise — of a document you altered without having the right or authority to do so.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you shall not exceed USD 50, or the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim, whichever is greater.

13. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. Uninstalling may permanently remove locally stored data (Section 4).

We may suspend or terminate your licence to use the App if you materially breach these Terms, including the acceptable-use restrictions in Section 6.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the App changes. When we do, the "Last Updated" date above will change, and material changes will be described here rather than made silently. Your continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the App.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Delhi, India. This does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence.
