1. Introduction

RevaRamdoot Studios ("we," "our," or "us") operates the PDFedit mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App does and does not collect. Please read it carefully. By using the App, you agree to this policy.

The short version: PDFedit works entirely on your device. There is no account, no backend server, and no cloud sync — your PDFs, and everything you do with them, stay on your phone unless you personally choose to share, print, or export a file. The App contains no advertising and no analytics or crash-reporting SDK of any kind, so nothing about how you use the App is sent to us. The one feature that talks to a server on its own is an optional, off-by-default Settings toggle that downloads a public font file by name when an edit needs a font your document doesn't have — Section 4 explains exactly what that involves. Scanning, on-device text recognition (OCR), translation, and read-aloud all run locally on your device; Section 5 explains the one honest caveat around first-use downloads of Google's on-device software.

2. Information We Collect

We collect none of your documents or their contents. RevaRamdoot Studios operates no server that receives your PDFs, and the App contains no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDK that would transmit information about your use of the App to us or to anyone else.

2.1 Data stored only on your device

The following stays in the App's private storage on your phone and is never uploaded to us:

  • The PDFs you open, create, or edit, together with the edits, annotations, highlights, underlines, strikethroughs, ink drawings, text boxes, stamps, and filled-in form fields you add to them.
  • Signatures you draw and place into a document.
  • Your Recent files list, bookmarks, favourites, virtual folders, and in-app search history, kept in a local database on your device.
  • Your app settings and preferences, such as night mode, view mode, and whether the optional font-download feature (Section 4) is switched on.

Uninstalling the App, or clearing its storage from Android Settings, permanently removes all of this from your device.

2.2 No account required

You can open, edit, annotate, organise, convert, scan, and share PDFs without ever signing in. The App does not require registration, and it never asks for your name, email address, or phone number in order to function.

3. Device Permissions and Why We Use Them

The App requests the following Android permissions. Each is used only for the feature it is named for:

  • All-files access / Storage: Used to build the device-wide PDF index shown in the Files tab, and to power batch tools (merge, split, move, rename, multi-file delete) across files you select. If you deny or later revoke this, the App keeps working: opening a PDF from another app, the system file picker, or a share sheet is unaffected; your Recent list keeps working; and every read, edit, annotate, organise, convert, scan, and OCR tool keeps working unchanged. The only thing you lose is the device-wide index in the Files tab, which is replaced by a screen explaining how to grant access if you change your mind.
  • Internet and network state: Used for exactly one optional, off-by-default feature — downloading a substitute font, described in Section 4. If you never turn that setting on, the App makes no network request for this purpose. (Section 5 covers separate, Google-controlled network activity behind the scanning, OCR, and translation features.)
  • Notifications: Shows the progress notification for long-running background jobs that you started yourself — merging, splitting, compressing, converting, scanning, or running OCR — for example, "Compressing PDF… 3 of 8." The notification text is limited to the job type and a page count; it never includes any of your document's text or content. If you deny this permission, the job still runs and completes in the background — you simply won't see its progress.
  • Foreground service (data sync): Lets those same background jobs keep running on Android 11–13 if the App is moved to the background, so a long export or scan isn't killed partway through. It does not access anything beyond the job already in progress.

4. Optional Font Download

When a text edit needs a font your document doesn't embed and no good built-in substitute exists, the App can — only if you switch this on in Settings — download a matching typeface from Google's public font catalogue.

What is sent: the font family and variant name you need, and the App's own API key, requested over HTTPS only. The App disables cleartext traffic entirely and restricts its own network requests to HTTPS via an Android network security configuration.

What is never sent: your document, any text you have typed or edited, your name, your email address, or any identifier tied to you or your device.

If the toggle is off, if no catalogue match is found, if you are offline, or if the download otherwise fails, the App silently falls back to a bundled substitute font that is metrically matched to the original — there is no error shown to you, and the edit still completes.

5. On-Device Scanning, Text Recognition, Translation and Read Aloud

Document scanning uses Google's Play Services Document Scanner module. Text recognition (OCR) uses Google's on-device ML Kit Text Recognition. Translation uses Google's on-device ML Kit Translate. All three process your images and text locally, on your device — the scanned image, the recognised text, and any translation you request are not uploaded to a server as part of using these features. Read-aloud uses Android's built-in text-to-speech engine, which only speaks text out loud; it does not listen to or record anything.

One honest caveat: the first time you use scanning, OCR, or translation, Google's Play Services or ML Kit components may download their own scanning module or language model to your device. That is a one-time download of Google's software, not an upload of anything from your document — but because that download happens inside Google's code rather than the App's own, we cannot independently verify every network call it makes. We have not observed any document content, scanned image, or translation input leaving your device in connection with these features.

6. Sharing and Printing Your Documents

When you share, print, or export a PDF, the App hands the file directly to whichever app, printer, or destination you select, using Android's own sharing mechanism. That hand-off is initiated by you and goes from your device straight to the destination you picked — it does not pass through us at any point.

Once a file leaves the App this way, it is governed by the privacy policy of whichever app or service you sent it to, not by this one.

7. Third-Party Services

The App contains no advertising networks and no analytics SDKs — including no Google Analytics, no Firebase Analytics, no Crashlytics or other crash-reporting service, and no ad SDK of any kind. The App displays no advertisements.

The third-party components the App relies on are these, and no others:

  • Play Services Document Scanner: powers the in-app document scanner (Section 5).
  • ML Kit Text Recognition and Translate: power on-device OCR and translation (Section 5).
  • Google Fonts API: only if you switch on the optional font-download setting (Section 4).
  • Android WorkManager: schedules and runs long background jobs (merge, split, compress, convert, scan, OCR) so they survive the App being backgrounded.

The Google-operated components above are governed by the Google Privacy Policy. None of them receives the contents of your documents.

8. Data Storage and Security

Your documents, edits, and app data are held in the App's private storage area and local database on your device, which Android isolates from other applications. Because we operate no server that stores your documents, there is no central database of user data for us to lose or for anyone to breach.

Where all-files access is granted, the App reads and writes files on your device's shared storage only in connection with the PDF tools you use — it does not read, collect, or transmit files unrelated to the feature you invoked. No method of electronic storage is completely secure; the physical security of your device remains your responsibility.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Because we never receive your documents or personal information, there is nothing on our side to retain, export, or delete on your behalf. Your data stays entirely under your control:

  • Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored documents, edits, settings, and history from the App's storage.
  • You can clear the App's data at any time via Android Settings → Apps → PDFedit → Storage & cache, without uninstalling.
  • You can revoke any granted permission (all-files access, notifications) at any time via Android Settings, which takes effect immediately.

10. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or object to the processing of your personal data under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. Because the App stores your documents and data locally on your device and we hold no copy of any of it, you can exercise all of these rights directly and immediately yourself, at any time, without needing to ask us. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use any of it for advertising, because we do not collect it in the first place.

11. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, because the App does not collect personal information from anyone.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if the App's functionality changes in a future version — for example, if a future update ever adds analytics, advertising, or server-side storage. If that happens, this policy will be updated first to describe exactly what changed and why, and the "Last Updated" date above will reflect it. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
